Natural Balance® Vegetarian Formula was designed for dogs with sensitivities caused by an intolerance to common food ingredients such as meat or dairy products. Our Vegetarian Formula provides adult dogs with the same essential nutrients found in diets with meat as the protein source. Natural Balance® Vegetarian Formula is for all breeds of adult dogs.

Some dogs may be highly sensitive to commonly used animal proteins, carbohydrates and food additives in their diet. Sensitivity reactions can lead to irritable bowel, upset stomach, and a number of skin problems. Natural Balance® has created Vegetarian Formula for dogs with these food sensitivities. Our Vegetarian Formula combines special non-meat proteins along with effective natural ingredients to help rebuild the dog's immune system.

A TRUE Vegan Formula Contains no dairy products or products derived from trace amounts of meat or dairy sources.

Brown Rice Rice grain with the bran portion intact, an excellent source of carbohydrates. Contains increased levels of B vitamins.

We recommend that you do not add vitamins, minerals or any other supplements, except upon the advice of a veterinarian. When switching your dog's diet, the change should be made gradually, by replacing the current food with increasing portions of Natural Balance® Ultra Premium Vegetarian Formula. The change should be completed after 5 to 7 days. The maintenance of proper body weight is most important for your dog's health. Consult your veterinarian for specific weight recommendations for your dog. Remember, fresh clean water should be available at all times!

The Adult Adult dogs should be fed either once or twice per day. When you first start feeding Natural Balance® Vegetarian Formula, we suggest to start with the amounts recommended in the Table. Energy requirements vary with environmental conditions, temperature and activity of your dog. The amount of food should always be adjusted to suit your dog’s needs.

Working Dogs Based on the work your dog will be asked to perform, the nutritional requirements will vary accordingly. As the work load increases, the demand for protein and fat increases proportionally. Dogs in hard training will generally require twice the maintenance levels.

The Older Dog As your dog begins to age, his energy expenditure will decrease. Decreasing the amount of food accordingly will allow for the maintenance of proper body weight for less active dog.

Two years ago, I adopted my two German Shepherds (one female and one male) when they were puppies, from a local German Shepherd Rescue. Having been a vegetarian myself for 34 years now and knowing the vast benefits of a healthy diet, I wanted to raise my dogs as vegetarian right from day one. Two of my previous German Shepherds had been on a vegetarian diet for the last few years of their lives, but I had never done this with such young dogs before. I feed them Natural Balance Vegetarian Formula for one of their daily meals and I cook for them for their second daily meal, as well as giving them daily yoghurt or kefir and a hardboiled egg. They are both now going on 3 years old and they are extremely healthy and gorgeous and they love their food. Almost every time I take them for a walk, at least one person remarks on how gorgeous they are. My only problem is that here where I live in Orlando, there are so very few places that sell the Vegetarian Formula - two local Petco stores where I used to buy it have now both stopped stocking the large bags (I guess not enough people want to feed their dogs this way). I am now down to only one store not too close to my house, which is disappointing. Online shopping is out of the question because of the huge shipping cost. I wish there were some way to get the message out to more people how well dogs can thrive on a vegetarian diet. Thank you for continuing to make this product. Lesley - FL
